Abstract

Polimeri su kemijske tvari, a dijele se prema postanku, sastavu te prema strukturi i obliku makromolekula. Brzi razvoj polimera i polimernih materijala, zatim dobar odnos cijene i kvalitete razlozi su njihove sve veće upotrebe u raznim djelatnostima. Prisutni su u svakodnevnom životu, gdje se koriste kao posude za hranu, prisutni su u izradi automobila, mobitela, igrački, tekstilnih vlakana itd... Nerazgradivi su, pa kao takvi predstavljaju veliku opasnost za onečišćenje okoliša.. Karakterizacija polimera uključuje primjenu različitih postupaka i metoda s ciljem opisivanja polimera prema kemijskom sastavu, strukturnoj građi lanca, veličini i raspodjeli molekulskih masa, amorfnosti, kristalnosti te morfologiji. Najzastupljenije metode karakterizacije su spektroskopske i toplinske metode koje daju uvid u strukturu polimera te u njihova mehanička i fizikalna svojstva.

Abstract (english)

Polymers are chemical substances divided into categories by their origin, composition and by structure and shape of macromolecules. Rapid development of polymers and polymeric materials, good ratio between price and quality are the reasons for their growing use in various activities. They are present in everyday life where they are used as food containers, they are present in the production of cars, mobile phones, toys, textile fibers etc. Due to their non-degradability they pose a risk to environmental pollution. Polymer characterisation includes applying various procedures and methods in order to describe the polymers according to their chemical composition, structure of the chain, size and distribution of molecular mass, amorphousness, crystallinity and morphology. The most common characterisation methods are spectroscopic and thermal methods which provide insight into the structure of polymers and their mechanical and physical properties.
