Abstract

Geografski informacijski sustav - GIS je sustav softvera, hardvera i operacija koji omogućuje upravljanje prostornim podacima. Rješavanje problema povezanih s prostorom postaju svakodnevnica u komunalnim djelatnostima. Rast broja stanovnika i urbanizacija posljednjih desetljeća potaknuli su komunalna poduzeća na korištenje novih, nekonvencionalnih metoda obrade prostornih podataka. Zbog svojih mogućnosti GIS je danas sve više prepoznat u komunalnim djelatnostima. U ovom radu prikazane su mogućnosti i primjeri korištenja GIS-a u komunalnim djelatnostima u svijetu i u Hrvatskoj.

Abstract (english)

Geographic information system - GIS is a system of software, hardware and operations that enable the management of spatial data. Solving problems related to space is becoming commonplace in utilities. Population growth and urbanization in recent decades have encouraged utilities to use new, unconventional methods of spatial data processing. Due to its capabilities, GIS is increasingly recognized today in utilities. This paper presents the possibilities and examples of the use of GIS in utilities in the world and in Croatia.
