Abstract

Danas se velika pažnja sve više usmjerava na vrlo ranjive krške obalne vodonosnike u kojima se formiraju vodni resursi važni za vodoopskrbu cijelog obalnog područja na prostoru Hrvatske. Veliki problem predstavlja zaslanjenost krških obalnih vodonosnika koji su uglavnom izgrađeni od dobro vodopropusnih karbonatnih stijena te zbog toga krški obalni vodonosnici imaju veliku otvorenost prema moru. Najveće količine kvalitetne pitke vode potrebno je osigurati tijekom ljetnih sušnih razdoblja kada je intenzitet padalina sve manji, a razvoj turizma sve veći. Posebno se to odnosi na jadranske otoke poput otoka Cresa na kojemu je Vransko jezero jedini izvor pitke vode koji se uglavnom prihranjuje oborina. Postavlja se pitanje kako omogućiti i osigurati dovoljne količine kvalitetne pitke vode, a da se ne naruši prirodna ravnoteža krških obalnih vodonosnika, ali i da se omoguće dovoljne količine kvalitetne pitke vode za buduće naraštaje. Geokemijsko modeliranje može biti vrlo koristan pristup pri osiguravanju kvalitetne pitke vode jer omogućuje predviđanje u kojem udjelu će pojedini izvor biti zaslanjen te se u skladu s time mogu poduzeti određene aktivnosti i mjere s ciljem smanjenja izvora zaslanjenja.

Abstract (english)

Nowadays, a lot of attention is paid to vulnerable karst coastal aquifers where water resources are formed, which are important for the water supply of the entire coastal area in Croatia. The salinity of karst coastal aquifers poses a great problem. They mostly consist of well permeable carbonate rocks and for that reason they are opened to the sea in a great measure.. The largest quantities of quality fresh water need to be provided during dry summer periods when the intensity of precipitation decreases while at the same time tourism increases. This especially applies to the Adriatic islands such as the island of Cres, where Vrana lake is the only source of freshwater, which is mainly filled through the process of precipitation. The question is how to enable and ensure sufficient quantities of quality freshwater without disturbing the natural balance of karst coastal aquifers and at the same time provide sufficient quantities of quality freshwater for future generations. Geochemical modelling can be a very useful way of ensuring quality freshwater because it allows us to predict the percentage of salinity of a particular source, and according to that what activities and measures can be taken to reduce the source of salinity.
