Abstract

Pravilna karakterizacija temeljnog tla osigurava dugotrajnost i pouzdanost građevinskih
konstrukcija. Ovaj diplomski rad istražuje geotehničku karakterizaciju stijenske mase za
potrebe temeljenja građevina. Osim osnovnih principa temeljenja na stijenskoj masi, rad pruža
pregled geotehničkih i geofizičkih metoda istraživanja koje se koriste za karakterizaciju
stijenske mase. Geotehničke metode, poput istražnog bušenja s uzimanjem uzoraka,
omogućuju prikupljanje informacija o fizikalno-mehaničkim svojstvima stijenske mase. S
druge strane, geofizičke metode omogućuju neinvazivne načine karakterizacije stijenske mase
na temelju fizikalnih svojstava, kao što su brzina seizmičkih valova ili električna otpornost.
Kombinacija navedenih metoda istraživanja omogućuje inženjerima donošenje pravilne odluke
i biranje odgovarajuće vrste temelja, te prilagodbu konstrukcijskog projekta. Postupci
geotehničke karakterizacije prikazani su kroz praktične primjere s istražnih lokacija u gradu
Pazinu i na otoku Korčuli. Zaključak rada naglašava važnost geotehničke karakterizacije
stijenske mase prije projektiranja temeljnih konstrukcija radi osiguranja stabilnosti i sigurnosti
građevinskih objekata.

Abstract (english)

Accurate characterization of underlying soil ensures the durability and reliability of
construction structures. This master's thesis presents geotechnical characterization of rock mass
for the purpose of building foundations. In addition to the basic principles of rock foundation,
the thesis provides an overview on geotechnical and geophysical investigation methods used
for rock mass characterization. Geotechnical methods, such as exploratory drilling with
sampling, enable the collection of information on the physical and mechanical properties of
rock masses. On the other hand, geophysical methods provide non-invasive ways to
characterize rock mass based on physical properties, such as seismic wave velocity or electrical
resistivity. The combination of these research methods allows engineers to make right decisions
and to select appropriate foundation types as well as to adapt structural design. The procedures
for geotechnical characterization are presented on practical examples from survey locations in
the town of Pazin and the island of Korčula. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of
geotechnical characterization of rock mass prior to designing foundation structures in order to
ensure stability and safety of construction projects.
